Nectarine and Pear Smoothie

This is a lovely smoothie and not too difficult to make. I love the combination of bananas, nectarines and pears and it is very healthy, being absolutely packed with fibre, antioxidants and vitamins. You can use peaches or apricots instead of nectarines if you prefer. Just make sure that the fruits are organic and ripe.

You will need a blender or a food processor to make this smoothie.

Serves 2 people

Ingredients

  • 100 millilitres (3½ fluid oz) soy milk
  • 1 nectarine, very ripe
  • 1 pear, very ripe
  • 1 banana, very ripe
  • 1 teaspoon agave nectar
  • A couple of ice cubes

Preparation

  1. Remove the stone from the nectarine with a small knife.
  2. Core the pear and remove the seeds. You can leave the skin on or peal it off if you prefer.
  3. Peel the banana.
  4. Place the ice cubes in a blender or food processor.
  5. Pour 50 millilitres (1½ fluid oz) of the soy milk on top of the ice cubes.
  6. Blend for 5 seconds.
  7. Add the following ingredients to the blender: Pear, banana, nectarine, 1 teaspoon agave nectar and the remaining 50 millilitres soy milk.
  8. Add more agave nectar if you prefer a sweeter smoothie.
  9. Blend for 1 minute or until smooth.
  10. Serve immediately.

Tips

  • Add more soy milk if the smoothie is too thick.
  • You can use maple syrup or acacia honey instead of the agave nectar.
  • For a chocolate twist, add 1 tablespoon cocoa powder.
  • Instead of soy milk you can use apple juice and orange juice.
  • You can of course use peaches instead of nectarines.
  • You can use almond milk, oat milk, rice milk or semi-skimmed milk instead of the soy milk.
