Cleansing Pear, Carrot and Ginger Juice
7. May, 2009
This is a fantastic juice which I absolutely love and make several times each month. It has cleansing abilities from the ginger and the pear and is packed with vitamins such as vitamin A (Beta Carotene) which can help protect against macular degeneration. Carrots' antioxidant compounds also help protect against heart disease and cancer. This juice can be made in a juicer or you can buy orange juice and carrot juice to mix together in the blender if you are in a hurry.

Cleansing Pear, Carrot and Ginger Juice
Serves 2 people
Ingredients
- A fairly small piece fresh ginger (equal to two grapes in size)
- 50 millilitres (1½ fluid oz) carrot juice or one carrot (you can juice your own if you like)
- 2 pears, very ripe
Preparation
- If using a juicer: Peel the carrot. Place carrot, the 2 pears and the 2 grams ginger in a juicer. Pour into a container and stir well.
- If using a blender: Peel and core the 2 pears. Chop coarsely.
- Place the pears in a blender or food processor. Add the 50 millilitres carrot juice and blend for 5 seconds.
- Peel the ginger (the skin is very thin, you can scrape it off with a teaspoon or a small knife).
- Grate the ginger finely over the blender so that the ginger juice drips into the bowl.
- Blend for 10 seconds.
- Serve immediately.
- Serve with ice cubes if preferred.
Tips
- You can also use an apple instead of one of the pears.
- For a slightly sweeter juice, add 1 tablespoon agave nectar.
- For an even more refreshing juice, add 50 millilitres (1½ fluid oz) orange juice.
