Orange and Cinnamon Tea
5. May, 2009
I love the scent of oranges and cinnamon. There is something very soothing about that lovely combination of sweet and spicy. When I am stressed because of work, or very tired, I often make this tea when I get home because I find it very calming and it helps me rewind. This is also one of my favourite winter teas.
Quite refreshing and lovely tea

Orange and Cinnamon Tea
Serves 2 people
Ingredients
- 500 millilitres (17 fluid oz) water
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 10 centimetres (4 inches) piece orange peel
- 1 teaspoon orange juice
- 1 teaspoon agave nectar or acacia honey
Preparation
- Place the 500 millilitres water in a small saucepan.
- Peel a 10 centimetres strip off the orange with a small knife. Be careful not to include the soft/white pith (it is very bitter).
- Add the cinnamon stick and the orange peel to the saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and allow to simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Pour into a sieve and discard the orange peel and cinnamon stick.
- Add the 1 teaspoon orange juice and 1 teaspoon agave nectar or acacia honey.
- Stir well and serve immediately.
- Decorate with a slice of orange if you like.
Tips
- You can use any type of honey you prefer instead of the acacia honey.
- You can use maple syrup instead of the agave nectar or honey.
- You can add a small piece of ginger for an even more refreshing taste.
