Strawberry Jam and Soy Dessert
11. March, 2009
I can't make up my mind as to whether this is a breakfast treat or a dessert. Sometimes I definitely want to make this in the morning but other times I really crave this after dinner. You can use different jams for the base layer although I prefer raspberry jam. This is a lovely treat and is very, very quick to prepare. I have often made this after realising that I was having dinner guests for the evening and forgetting that I was serving dessert until it was almost too late!
Note that the soy joghurt I use is pre-sweetened with apple juice (or sometimes cane sugar). It is not sweet as in 'sugary' but has a slightly sweet note and is definitely not tart or sour.
Sunshine in a glass. This dessert is also lovely as a breakfast treat

Strawberry Jam and Soy Dessert
Serves 2
Ingredients
- 300 millilitres (10 fluid oz) soy yoghurt (pre-sweetened)
- 100 millilitres (3½ fluid oz) pure strawberry jam
- 4 tablespoons granola (without added white sugar)
- 2 tablespoons agave nectar
Preparation
- You will need two fairly large glasses (broad tumblers or wine glasses will do).
- Combine the 300 millilitres soy yoghurt and 2 tablespoons agave nectar in a small bowl and mix well.
- Place 50 millilitres jam in each glass.
- Divide the soy yoghurt equally between the glasses (pour on top of the jam).
- Sprinkle 2 tablespoons granola over the soy yoghurt.
- Serve immediately.
Tips
- You can also place the granola at the bottom of the glass.
- You can use other jams such as blueberry, peach, raspberry and more.
- This is also very nice as a breakfast treat.
- You can use maple syrup instead of the agave nectar.
